Each year, the members of MALS host Legal Professionals Week (LPW) in celebration of legal professionals in the Montgomery area. This year, LPW will be held March 31st through April 2nd. Flyers will be posted regarding the individual events, but the details are below.
COFFEE WITH THE JUDGES is an event where Montgomery area judges and attorneys get together in the Jury Assembly Room of the Montgomery County Courthouse for coffee and pastries. It will be held from 7:45 am – 8:45 am on Tuesday, March 31st, and it is sponsored by Freedom Court Reporting. All Montgomery area judges and attorneys are encouraged to attend and take advantage of this opportunity to network and fellowship.
Robert Longshore of the Alabama Board of Pardons and Paroles will speak to us at a LUNCH N’ LEARN to be held on Wednesday, April 1st at 11:45 am at the Alabama State Bar. A free pizza lunch will be provided, and one hour of free CLE will be awarded to legal secretaries, paralegals, and legal staff. Attorney CLE is not available. Reservations are required for this event.
On Thursday, April 2nd at 11:45 am, MALS will have its AWARDS LUNCHEON at Sinclair’s on Vaughn Road. The cost is $20, and reservations are required. We will award our Boss of the Year and Member of the Year awards, as well as our education scholarships. Guests are welcome!

MALS will hold its regular meeting at 12 noon on Monday, January 12th, at the Farmer’s Market Cafe (315 N. McDonough Street). Attorney Richard Moxley will speak to us about Collection Law (1/2 hour of CLE). You don’t want to miss this FREE CLE seminar. All you have to buy is your lunch!
The AALS Winter Board Meeting will be held Friday, January 23rd and Saturday, January 24th at the Best Western in Atmore, Alabama. State officers will be elected at this meeting, and MALS is proud to have two members who are nominees for state office: Barb Hanley has been nominated for President-Elect, and Kristi Skipper, PP, PLS has been nominated for Treasurer. Six hours of CLE will be offered, including Lethal Laptop – The New Courtroom Weapon; Alacourt Plus – The New Version; Alabama Rules of Judicial Administration, Rule 32; Alabama Supreme Court and Issues That Might Affect Legal Secretaries, Paralegals, and Court Reporters; Gamble As Long As the River Flows; and The Ways and Means of Modern Day Corrections in Alabama. On Monday, January 26, at 12:00 noon, MALS invites all legal secretaries and paralegals to join us for a Lunch N’ Learn at the Farmer’s Market Cafe.
